Sometimes a map only tells part of the story. As hunters, we often turn to each other to fill in the rest — asking about a washed-out road, sharing a photo of an old trail sign, or posting something cool we stumbled across in the field. That’s why we’re taking steps to make our hunting Unit Profiles the go-to place to connect with other hunters who have been there. Unit Profiles are a place to add boots-on-the-ground context, ask questions, and swap insight with people who’ve actually been there. It’s the kind of real-world info you won’t find just by zooming in on a satellite image.
Unit Profiles are only accessible to GOHUNT members. By keeping this feature member-only, we’re building a trusted community where honest, unit-specific information stays between hunters—not spread across the open web.
You can now upload photos, reply to other hunters, and tag your comments with helpful insights—making it easier than ever to join the conversation. You can also mark “yes” or “no” to whether you’ve hunted this area in the past, which will come in handy later (trust us).
You can utilize this advanced commenting feature on both the web version of Insider and on our mobile app.
Sometimes you just want to show what you’re seeing — how much blowdown is blocking a trail, what a campsite looks like, or a cool shot from your trail camera. Now you can add photos directly to the Unit Profile or include them in your comments to help others get a better feel for the area. It’s an easy way to share what you’ve come across and make the map more than just lines and layers.
We’ve updated the default to notify you of replies automatically. Too many questions were going unanswered, or conversations ending in a dead-end because you weren’t being notified. Now, you will automatically get email notifications when someone replies to your comment. You can disable this feature if you prefer.
GOHUNT will automatically suggest tags that you can add to your comments, which will help future users gain the information they’re after – but much faster.
If you’ve hunted a unit and are willing to share about it, you can now flag which units you’ve hunted, and specify by season and year. This lets other users know you’re a trustworthy source of information, and will come into play with later feature enhancements.
From now until June 1, 2025, every comment you leave with a photo gets you entered to win one of three $500 GOHUNT Gear Shop gift cards. It’s our way of saying thanks for helping build the best hunting resource in the West.
June 2 update: Winners have been announced in the table below! Thanks to everyone who checked out this feature and commented on a unit profile with a photo. We appreciate every one of you!
