This large, thin island lies parallel to Saratoga Passage and Admiralty Inlet, with lots of coastlines including Oak and Crescent Harbor and Penn Cove. With that being said, this unit has basically all privately held land in small personal use lots with the largest section of public being represented by Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, state parks, and nature conservancies. There is hunting opportunity within this small GMU, however, the style of hunt is certainly not for everyone.
Getting access to private lands can be a challenge in this unit.
This small island just above sea level holds a healthy population of deer. This area is thickly brushed and has lots of very small single-family residential properties. A GPS will help you know your hunting boundaries and will also be useful for game retrieval.\
Access is all private land and is best secured early.
This unit has thick, lush cover with small tracts of cleared land, few hobby farms, and some pristine habitats that are critical to supporting wildlife populations. Tidal flats and marshland are common as elevations rise just a few hundred feet above sea level. There are a significant amount of introduced non-native decorative trees, shrubs and flowers, some of which are growing feral.
Unless you know someone who lives on the island, you will have to take the ferry or private boat daily.
