This area is located in south-central Wyoming along the Colorado Border. Copious amounts of public land are found here but most of these are found within the Snowy Range and are areas that aren't typically suited for antelope. Most of the antelope habitat within the unit constants of checkerboard public land sections and private properties. Good numbers of antelope are found here but public parcels can be heavily hunters and many of these herds will reside on private lands.

Good numbers of antelope can be found here along with a decent distribution of public lands. Most public areas are checkerboard so getting away from roads can be a challenge.

This area has a lot of large sage flats with rolling hills and grassy flats on the north and west sides of the unit. The south and east side of the area is high in elevation with mountainous terrain in the forest. There are a few areas in the unit that hunters can get access to for glassing longer distances. Even though the unit looks flat on the east side, there are a lot of drainages and folds for antelope to find cover in.

Wilderness

Under Wyoming law nonresidents are not permitted to hunt big game or trophy game in any federally designated wilderness areas without the presence of a licensed guide or resident companion. The resident companion must first get a free non-commercial guide license from a Game and Fish office. The law does not prohibit nonresidents from hiking, fishing or hunting game birds, small game, or coyotes in wilderness areas.

Getting access here can be very frustrating since most of the hunt areas are blocked in by private land. Most of the public land is found in higher elevation forest habitat and does not have as many antelope. If hunters draw a permit, the Pass Creek Basin information can be found on the Wyoming Game and Fish website.

Vegetation found at lower elevations is mainly made up of sage and grass with an occasional pinyon and juniper tree. Mixed in areas with aspen stands that fade into sagebrush basins can also be found here. As elevation is gained, the vegetation changes to mixed conifer that surrounds large grassy areas and mountain meadows.

Camping spots can be found in several places on public land. Lodging, food and fuel services can be found in Saratoga and Encampment, Wyoming.
