This unit is known as Bear Lodge and is located near Hulett in the Northeast corner of Wyoming. There is a lot of wild turkey, and good fishing in this area.For nonresidents, this area is part of Region A and tags drawn for this area are also valid in: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6.
Hunting mule deer in this area will give hunters a variety of terrains from farm fields, open flats, or even forests and canyons to hunt on. Be prepared to look over a lot of terrain.
This area has everything from grassy prairies, to pine-covered rim rock bluffs. The open prairie here has a lot of rises, dry creeks, shallow valleys and low hills. Hunters can see a lot of the whitetail species along with a some of mule deer here.
Access consists mostly of private ground, which can cause confusion for hunters. GPS and map research is suggested for this area. There is poor public access in this area. Obtaining permission to hunt private land after having received a license can be difficult. Research of public land hunting opportunities is advised before applying for a license.
Surrounded by Black Hills National Forest, Sundance and the Bear Lodge Mountains. It is typical to be near sagebrush and open land in the lower elevation of prairie. As the elevation climbs, expect thick pine trees and rocky bluffs and canyons.
Hunters can find a wide range of accommodations, located throughout this unit, from lodging to Western-themed dining. There is opportunity to purchase additional supplies needed after arrival. Camping opportunities are available.
