This small, desert unit is mostly in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and is known among hunters for its desert bighorn sheep. Mule deer here are not as common as some other units, though there is relatively decent success during the late season and there are hardly any elk (possibly none). Although open to antelope hunting, this unit has few pronghorns.

A trophy size elk, deer or antelope might exist, but all three species are so scarce that few hunters look, opting to hunt other units where their tags are valid. Arizona issues elk tags to reduce a herd that already is low with only archery and muzzleloader seasons available. Antelope hunters should plan to hunt in Unit 15B East as antelope are slim to none in this unit.

Low desert mountains, rocky canyons and desolate drainages comprise most of this unit, whose main features are Lake Mead and 5,445-foot Mount Wilson.

Except for about six square miles of state land, all land is managed by the BLM and the National Park Service. Virtually the entire unit is open to hunting, including Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Mount Wilson Wilderness.

Cactus and Mohave desert scrub grow in rolling desert lowlands and rocky canyons, while cactus and several kinds of brush grow in the higher terrain.

Most hunters camp along dirt roads. Motels are in Kingman and Dolan Springs as well as in Boulder City, Nevada. Developed campgrounds are at Windy Point and Temple Bar.
