All things considered even with the excess of walk-in compared to lots of units there is still no chatter about this unit on the internet. This also lends itself that much of this walk-in access is more for duck hunting than anything else, and not being utilized by deer hunters as much.
There are several large bodies of water in the southeast corner as well as one in the south west corner of the unit, overall there is very little elevation change across the board. This unit has an excessive amount of water that creates vast areas that are mostly wetland marsh and swamp. If you're looking for deer opportunities, focus your efforts around the dryland farming in and around Langford, SD and an endless amount of creek beds running in all directions.
State Hwy 10 spans east to west across the unit and County highway 27 runs north and south in the central portion. There are many roads heading in each direction off of these two routes in the unit which makes navigating to one spot or the other very simple.
A mix of short and tall prairie grass for miles in all directions as well as countless species of wildflowers can be found in most areas of the unit that haven’t been turned for agricultural purposes. Very sparse timber which is primarily a mix of Cottonwood, American Elm, Green Ash, and Bur Oak can be found along the banks of the countless number of small creeks scattered across the unit.
There are few amenities within this unit. The most notable town is along State Hwy 10 to the west, Britton, South Dakota. Britton has a couple lodging options, as well as a small convenience store and a few gas stations.
