Area 168 is located in the southwest corner of Wyoming and has good mule deer territory, with opportunities to harvest a trophy buck. Mule deer populations in this area are good. Private land boundaries can be beneficial for finding deer, so seek permission to hunt private lands in this unit.
Deer can typically be found in long draws covered in junipers that are located throughout the unit. Hills and rough country make up this area, so be prepared to spot and stalk. Elevation varies greatly throughout and can change rapidly.
Public land access in this area is not ideal, however harvesting a buck is possible here. Get permission to hunt private land to greatly increase the odds for a trophy buck.
Central lower elevations are dominated by prairie grass and sagebrush hills with cottonwood trees and willows that line the river. Higher elevations are covered with juniper and aspen trees.
Camping opportunities are available in this area near the towns of Bridger Valley and Evanston. Evanston has hotels, restaurants and fuel.
