Area 35 is located in the southwestern region of Wyoming. This area runs east from Uinta County to Green River and follows the Flaming Gorge reservoir. The population of moose in this region is decent and can provide hunters with ideal hunting opportunities.
The moose population in this area is not impacted by wolves. There is good public access here, with some privately owned land to navigate around. Even though it is typically difficult to draw a moose license in Wyoming, this unit provides a little better draw odds.
This terrain here varies from mountainous hills to open sagebrush and juniper hills and river bottoms thriving with willows and aspen. Moose can be found wandering around creek bottoms and in areas around thicker trees. With varying terrain, it can be hard to travel through some roads and trails in this unit.
Public access in this area is good. Hunters typically hunt by vehicle, ATV and on foot. Be prepared to access rough country with two-track roads or trails. Services from a professional outfitter can greatly increase the odds of success in this unit.
Moose can be found near water sources grazing on willows along the river bottoms, or traveling across land to find serviceberries. Vegetation along the river is thick, making it difficult to spot moose. Moose can typically be found in aspen patches and sagebrush or juniper patches where they can be seen bedded down.
Accommodations and supplies are can be found in the many nearby towns. There are not many campgrounds near good hunting grounds, but camping is permitted on public land throughout this area.
